Island Adventure in Talisayen Cove, Zambales

Talisayen Cove can be found in San Antonio, Zambales which is a second class municipality in the province of Zambales in the Philippines. The Place is known for its beautiful beaches, majestic mountains and scenic coves. It is a favorite destination of campers and beach lovers too. Talisayen Cove is a sitio of Barangay Pundaquit, this island has a quiet environment and good for relaxing. Just like the popular Anawangin and Nagsasa Cove, Talisayen doesn't have resorts or any sort of accommodation yet except for beach huts and one big house that are used for vacation spot by the owners.

We went here last April 2013 with my office mates for our team building. It took us a month to prepare since we had different schedules. Going to Zambales will take 9 hours from Manila, our road trip started from Nlex, SCtex, Subic and then finally, our port area in Zambales. We only had two stop overs because we were so excited to see the place and have some fun since we were so stressed from work. Our first stop over was in McDonald for lunch then, the last one was to get some supplies that we need for our food and other stuffs.

When we went to Talisayen we only used a jeepney ( since we have no other choice), we don't know how we survived it with all the dust and dirt from the outside. But we have crazy people with us so that made us not notice those dirt anymore until we reach our destination, plus some of us took the time to sleep since we came from work. We brought everything that we need and the foods we planned to cook, we also brought a mini stove because we don't know if there are a lot of place to cook ( they do actually).

We reached our port in Zambales and took a small boat to reach the Island. We were divided into 2 groups since it's a small boat and we are all adults, I was part of the last group and it was already late afternoon when we rode it. That was perfect for us because we were able to see the sunset while we riding the small boat that took us to the island. It was a 30 minute ride. It was enjoyable, aside from the sunset the clear blue water was amazing and the islands were a good sight too. Talisayen cove is far more than Anawangin and Nagsasa Cove. When we reach the island it was already dark and some bonfires were lit up, there was also an electricity unlike the other two islands, though they turn it off around midnight and be back on in mid afternoon. The first group had the things settled, we got the first hut, some of them had the food prepared, some were seated on the sand with a guitar. Some visitors on the island were drinking, staying by the bonfire while cooking marshmallows, some just lying on the sand while looking at the stars. At the far end there are visitors playing musics. The Talisayen Cove is not over crowded unlike the others that's why the visitors of the island can relax and have so much fun.

That night we had drinks and ate a lot plus we also enjoyed the water even though it was cold while the others are busy playing their guitars, there are some that just stayed by beach and chose to look at the stars. It is perfect time for everyone to forget about our job and just enjoy the place. I listened to the sound of the beach while looking at the stars and talked to some friends about everything. We lit our bonfire after they turned off the electricity. The person who lit it up was drunk and was lying down while blowing the fire. It was crazy but funny at the same time, he was too drunk that every time he chased a friend of ours he always fell face first and it happen three times. He fell asleep the last time he fell and we never woke him up. We got up the next day and he was covered with a big plastic bag and made fun of him (peace friend!) because he looked like someone that was salvaged and left there with all the sand around his body even on his ears

There are not a lot of activities in this Island unlike other beaches however, there are good places to go to and take pictures. Like the small lagoon that is a perfect spot for picture taking, its on the edge of the mountain lined with pine trees on the other end. The water was shallow and crystal. There's also a grotto at the edge of the mountain though it was a long walk I'm glad I did not stop because when we reached the top I realized why it had been put there. We had a panoramic view of the cove. The white sand against the green mountains and the pine trees was an amazing sight. We stayed by the beach after going to this places and had our lunch. We went home that day too, unfortunately for us when we were in the middle of our way, in front of the Anawangin Island there was a black cloud and it started raining, mind you we were in a small boat and there was water coming in because of the big waves. Thank God we arrived safe and here I am writing my blog (:. Aside from that experienced it was so FUN and CRAZY and UNFORGETTABLE and RELAXING.

We all fell asleep on our way back to Manila. ",)

Tip:
Don't forget to bring a mosquito repellent.
You might want to bring small blankets too.
Bring your sunblock.
Don't worry about water you can ask you're tour guide to buy it for you.
You can check for better deal from websites ( I forgot the number of our contact here, I'll update maybe later).
Check the weather report first before you go because it is just going to be a disaster.
